Overcoming Depression

Depression provokes deep questioning. Why am I here? What’s the point? What is my purpose on this earth? Why am I alive?

Great questions.

I challenge you to answer them.

Wallow in those thoughts. Really think about it. What is your purpose? Why are you here? Why has nothing worked out for you up until this point? Why is this happening to you?

Depression is unprocessed pain. It is my belief that this pain shows up in our lives so that we are forced to stop and process what and why (this) is happening. Work through it, similarly to the way you would work through a knot in your back. When physical injury occurs we are forced to slow down and tend to the wound. The same goes for mental injury.

Tend to your mind.

If you are depressed it means that you are aware of the fact that something in your life desperately needs to change. Something is missing. What is it?

Go find it. Fix it.

Change everything. Change something. Be brave. Flip the whole thing on its head. Embrace your life, your challenges, and your shortcomings. Own them. What makes you different? How are you unique? Why doesn’t anyone understand you? Why is this so hard for you? Why is this happening?

The answers you find will be powerful.

Take those answers and use them as your next stepping stones. Where will you go from here? I bet that not only will you find your way out of the woods, you will find something of great value...

You will find yourself.
